How to transfer video from a mini dv camera into my computer? - mini dv blue ray

I have a Dell Windows XP. I know I need a FireWire cable, but my computer does not have a FireWire input. Is there another way I can get the video on my computer? I want to transfer video from a mini-DV camera to my work and with Windows Media and not processed to copy the edited video back in a new mini-DV tape? Can anyone help? Thank you.
